Darryl L. Crockett
Designer/Illustrator
Darryl is a graphic designer and illustrator with a vast amount of experience. He first began drawing at an early age in the ’60s while copying the styles of the Marvel and DC comics artists of the period. He later began developing his own superheroes with varying powers. He also enjoyed illustrating animals, dinosaurs, and muscular men. After gaining a true understanding of light and shadow he became a fantasy illustrator specializing in prehistoric animals battling men with herculean strength.
During his senior year in high school, he was introduced to the "Commercial Art" industry and chose graphic design as his area of study during college. Graduating with a BFA in Design, he began his career as a production artist producing special event posters and magazine layouts. Darryl did a one-year stint as an electrical wireman for OTIS Elevators because he could read blueprints which turned into his first full-time creative position drafting elevator interiors. That opportunity lead to him eventually designing corporate graphics and multimedia presentations for The Coca-Cola Company.
Over the years Darryl has worked in many markets, educational media, corporate communications, 2 & 3D animation, and broadcasting. He has designed and produced many projects doing everything from airbrush art and illustrations, to touch screen kiosks and 3D displays. He also has held positions of graphic designer, illustrator, production supervisor, project manager, associate producer, art & creative director. Darryl is currently the Creative Director of DC Design, specializing in corporate communications, identity and branding, with an emphasis in design for print and broadcasting. Available below for your perusal are some of Darryl’s personal works. There are a few pieces in Darryl's gallery that are available through this site) to purchase as prints.
